Safety Precautions

India just runs on faith and luck. Of course God's grace is always with Indians. You can see deities of various Gods in cars, stickers of God on bikes, religious slogans at the back too. God is there to protect us from every hazardous acts we commit. That truly reflects in our driving. Young generation are buying pretty fast motor bikes and expensive one too but Alas! no helmets still. Though metro cities have strict rules but some seems to really enjoy breaking them. You can see super-bikes riders without their helmets, leave alone gloves, shoes and safety gears etc. As its a matter of prestige among fellows and also girls wont see whose under that helmet and could you believe it they excuse that it ruins there hairstyle! This is more common in night when traffic police is low. It is more vulnerable in smaller cities and town where rules can be overridden easily. No shame riding bikes even on highways with max speed. It dosent matter how many people are sitting in bikes 3 or 4 who cares. Use of mobiles even if they don't need it too.
Even car drivers are not far behind seldom use of seat belts and full use mobile phones while driving are common traits of an Indian car driver. Drinking is also practiced at full scale which worsens as week turns to weekend. So what if God's deity is inside but its a crime drinking in a religious place. Traffic light drag race competitions are common to prove that even though I'm more drunk than others but still I can drive and that too faster than others.
Definitely we are becoming one of the largest automotive markets in the world but have we prepare ourselves to handle it. Don't know what type of example we are setting for our next generation. Will they be proud to hear that we have one of the highest road fatalities in the world?
